We’ve heard for a couple of years that a sequel to ‘The Craft‘ was in the works and there’s at least one witch who would be interested in returning! While Fairuza Balk has always felt that a remake would be a bad idea, it sounds like Robin Tunney is down as long as it’s a sequel and does the original justice:

“I feel like if it came along and the script was good and I actually thought it was going to be something…I want them to find a great director. I think they’ve gone through a lot of writers. If it was something where I felt like they were going to do it well, and also find a way, because it’s been so much time, you can’t just do a sequel. I think on some level, it totally has to, in order to feel relevant, I think it should be maybe funnier or something.”

Any sequel at this point would likely also work as a soft reboot to allow for a younger generation of witches to be involved. However, a new tale would need to be told and not just a modern re-telling of the original with gratuitous cameos from the coven we knew and loved:

“I feel like, in order to make it seem culturally relevant, they need to do something [new] and do it quite well. They just can’t pick it up where it left off, and it’s all of our kids or something. Generations of people have watched it. It’s the idea of somebody just trying to monetize that and not caring if it’s good or not would be sad. I would love to do it if I thought it was going to be cool. I’m so proud of the fact that I was in a movie that has been loved by so many generations of people and watched at so many sleepovers. It’s an honor.”

We know that a draft for the sequel was turned in near the end of 2017 which may be moving forward. As to if this sequel will directly involve any of the original witches is still up in the air but if done right it wouldn’t be too surprising to see some of them return.

Are you down with Robin Tunney reprising her role from ‘The Craft’? Do you think a sequel would bring the original characters back to continue their stories or to be a soft reboot? Share your thoughts below!
