‘In Search Of,’ the documentary-style television show from the late 1970s and early 1980s that focused on case files of the paranormal and extraterrestrial, is coming back to TV as a brand-new 10-episode limited series. The show will be aired on HISTORY, the cable & streaming network, and will be hosted and executive-produced by Zachary Quinto.
Quinto is well-known to genre audiences for his on-screen starring roles in the NBC series ‘Heroes,’ and the three newest ‘Star Trek’ feature films as beloved character Spock. The latter is particularly poignant, as the original actor to play Spock in ‘Star Trek,’ Leonard Nimoy, also hosted the classic ‘In Search Of’ series after original host Rod Serling passed away.
Of the new series, Quinto said in a statement:
“I am so excited to be reimagining ‘In Search Of’ and exploring new questions and phenomena with all of the advancements in science and technology from which we have benefited in the past forty years since the original series first aired. In the spirit of my late dear friend Leonard Nimoy, we intend to honor and perpetuate his endless curiosity about the world – and universe – in which we live. Our director Eddie Schmidt and our partners at Propagate, Universal Television Alternative Studio and FremantleMedia International have ignited the process with enthusiasm and intelligence, and HISTORY is the perfect home for this unique and compelling series.”
Eli Lehrer, HISTORY’s Executive Vice President, also added:
“In the ‘70s and ‘80s, the legendary Leonard Nimoy captivated viewers by transporting them through the world of unsolved mysteries and paranormal phenomena. To this day, the investigations conducted in this series remain relevant and a source of public obsession. Now with Zachary’s passion and prevalence in the science fiction genre, the groundbreaking series is back for a new audience.”
No specific air dates have been announced as of yet for the new series, but we will definitely keep you posted as we receive new information!
