Yoda

With ‘Star Wars‘ standalone movies being all the rage right now, one key character who could get one is Yoda and Frank Oz has weighed in if we’ll see ‘Yoda: A Star Wars Story’ in the future. Honestly, it wouldn’t be the near future as we already know that Lucasfilm has at least one more saga film in the works, ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’ is due next year, Rian Johnson’s new trilogy, and a rumored ‘Kenobi: A Star Wars Story‘ and ‘Boba Fett: A Star Wars Story‘ both in the works as well. With that big of a slate, it would be hard to imagine another film being announced and added to the lineup unless they started to double up on releases just as the Marvel Cinematic Universe had done after Disney purchased them.

Oh, wait, that could be exactly what they’re doing.

As to if a movie is in the works? Oz has confirmed it!

“Yeah, he is going to. He is going to. He’s going to be a chorus girl. He’s changing sex. He will become — he won’t kick that high, I think he’s a little too old for the extensions, but he’s going to do his best.”

Okay, maybe he was just messing with us. As to a more serious note on asking if he had any thoughts on Yoda’s story continuing at some point:

“I think I’m not going to talk about Yoda here. I think that’s all I’m going to say! … And by the way, I’m happy to talk about Yoda another time. It’s just that if I get into Yoda, then all of a sudden this will The Yoda Story. And I mean, I think I’ve given you enough of a scoop with the chorus girl thing.”

Sadly, that doesn’t help too much but Oz does share more ideas of what the meat of the plot for his chorus girl Yoda idea would be about when asked if the Jedi Master had any previous dance training:

“He doesn’t, that’s the problem. The whole show is going to be about him struggling to learn dance and the different forms of dance. That’s what the show is about. Already I’ve given you way too much information.”

Joking aside, Oz does love his work even though it has only been voice work for a puppet or CGI depending on the film:

“One has to always love characters one does, or else the character isn’t alive. No matter what character you do.”

Oz, generations have loved the character who you brought to life with your voice and we’re glad that you love him as much as we do!

Here’s hoping that a ‘Yoda: A Star Wars Story’ could actually happen!
