Even with Joss Whedon‘s lighter touches, was ‘Justice League’ still a bit too dark for you? This might be right up your alley! Butch Hartman, creator of ‘The Fairly OddParents’ and ‘Danny Phantom’ among other Nickelodeon hits, has crafted a parody trailer, matching the real thing shot-by-shot but substituting “All Grow’d Up” versions of Nicktoons for the DC Comics champions. The dialogue is lifted directly from the original cartoons, with prolific voice actor Tara Strong recording new lines for Timmy Turner to tie it all together. The artwork is provided by Kuro The Artist.
In the clip, Timmy Turner from ‘The Fairly OddParents’ serves as the Bruce Wayne/Batman figure, with Danny Phantom standing in for The Flash, Jimmy Neutron as Cyborg and SpongeBob Squarepants as Aquaman. These four Nick character were previously featured together in the Game Cube game ‘Nicktoons Unite’ (see above) but there was no female character in that game, so the logical stand-in for Wonder Woman, was Nick’s most famous female ‘toon, Dora the Explorer.
The video below features not only the Nicktoons parody clip, but a follow-up by Hartman himself, then a side-by-side comparison of the Nick parody and the actual ‘Justice League’ trailer. There are also some cameos by additional Nick characters, including Chuckie from ‘Rugrats’ and Hartman’s own ‘T.U.F.F. Puppy’. Check it out for yourself below and enjoy!
