snoke andy serkis

It seems that Andy Serkis is talking a rather big game about his latest CGI character, but really, who can blame the man who gets to play the newest villain in ‘Star Wars,’ especially if what he is currently telling the press turns out to be true.  According to a quote found in an unidentified magazine, which apparently Comicbook.com found via Reddit, Andy Serkis apparently replied to the question of whether Snoke was more powerful than Darth Vader and Emperor Palpatine with the following:

“Oh, without question. He has limitless resources, let’s put it that way.”

When asked about why then, he looks so weak and old, Serkis went on to talk about Snoke’s physicality:

“There’s a frailty and a damage to Snoke. His face is cleaved in, scars across his mouth, contorted body. But without giving too much away, he is strong. He is the dark end of the Force. He’s the leader of the First Order, but he has his own agenda. He’s a cruel manipulator.”

And of course, as reported before, Serkis is now on record as confirming that Snoke is definitely NOT a Sith Lord, though Serkis does make it seem like he is something far worse:

“[Snoke is] definitely not a Sith, but he’s certainly at the darker end of the Force. Without giving too much away, that begins to unfold a little in this one…Snoke is bloody dark; way darker than Palpatine…He’s riddled with this osteoporosis so his body’s twisted, like a corkscrew. He’s incredibly damaged, so there’s a bizarre vulnerability about him. Beneath that vulnerability, though, is this intense hatred.”

So is there a chance that Serkis is right and Snoke truly is the most powerful user of the Dark Side of the Force we have ever seen on screen? Or is he boasting because he is excited about his character and the new movie is about to come out? Truly, there is no way to really know until ‘The Last Jedi’ hits theaters, and even then, we may still have a number of questions, but I have a feeling we will get some backstory on Snoke. It is interesting to note, though, that Snoke was able to turn Ben Solo to the Dark Side despite the boy’s apprenticeship to Luke Skywalker, someone who knows a thing or two about the Light and Dark sides and saving family members, so that might be a hint about the level of Darkness and power Snoke is working with here. And of course, as stated before, his age does imply that he has been around for a very long time, and could have had a behind-the-scenes hand in galactic events dating all the way back to the prequels…

I suppose we’ll just have to wait till the ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ premieres next week to see if we get any answers! If you have any thoughts or theories though, feel free to share them in the comments below!
