Fun fact: Thanksgiving is Chase Stein’s favorite holiday. But it may not be after this one. In this clip, the ‘Runaways’— Karolina Dean (Virginia Gardner), Molly Hernandez (Allegra Acosta), Nico Minoru (Lyrica Okano), Chase Stein (Gregg Sulkin), Alex Wilder (Rhenzy Feliz) and Gert Yorkes (Ariela Barer)– gather to share the biggest meal of the year. But it seems they may not have a lot to be thankful for after their feast is interrupted.
This is just a promo for Hulu‘s latest series, an adaptation of the Marvel Comics series about a group of super teens who discover that their parents are a super villain cabal known as the Pride, who, in the series, represent the Scientology-like celebrity-filled Church of Gibborim. The show takes a lot of liberties from the source material, but for the most part, reaction has been positive.
The parents play a much larger role on the TV series than they did in the comics. That cast includes Annie Wersching and Kip Pardue as Leslie and Frank Dean, Carmen Serano as Alice Hernandez, Brittany Ishibashi and James Yaegashi as Tina and Robert Minoru, Ever Carradine and James Marsters as Janet and Victor Stein, Angel Parker and Ryan Sands as Catherine and Geoffrey Wilder and Brigid Brannagh and Kevin Weisman as Stacey and Dale Yorkes. The cast also includes Nicole Wolfe as Destiny Gonzalez and Ric Sarabia as “Mystery Man.” In a nod to the comic book’s creators Brian K. Vaughn and Adrian Alphona, Cody Mayo plays a character named Vaughn while Ryan Doom plays Coach Alphona.
The first three episodes are now available on Hulu, with new episodes premiering each Tuesday. There are ten episodes total in the first season.
Did you catch the first three episodes of ‘Runaways’? Are you thankful for this adaptation? Or did they take too many liberties?
