Check out Spawn getting his “Amazing” on!

We know that Todd McFarlane was working on bringing a ‘Spawn‘ film to life and now it looks like a cartoon might still happen after the upcoming movie! There hasn’t been any word on a new animated outing since 2009, but it sounds like the idea still exists. However, while McFarlane is sharing that he’d still like to create the cartoon we don’t know if it would be related to the movie or have its own story.

While at New York Comic-Con 2017, McFarlane was asked about the status of the TV show:

“I’m going to get the [Spawn] movie out and then we still have the rights for TV and animation, and we’ll just figure it out. I’ve also got to figure out how to get Keith David in my movie, too. Just for one line.”

David was the voice of Spawn in HBO’s ‘Todd McFarlane’s Spawn’ which ran for a couple of years. While no studio is currently signed on for the project with how far into pre-production it even is, Todd would like to see it be on HBO and R-Rated:

“…it will be a definite R. I’m not going for the same crowd that Marvel and DC is going for; I’m going for the same crowd that horror film releases going for. People who want to take their boyfriend or girlfriend or go out with the girls and go to the movies and get spooked.”

McFarlane’s reason for HBO is simple; they’re the ones who gave him his “big break” into animation. Last we heard there was already a ‘Sam & Twitch‘ show in development with BBC but that wasn’t directly through McFarlane, so we’ll see what ends up being put together.

Are you thrilled to see that ‘Spawn’ might be coming to the small screen as well? Do you think that he’ll plan this into a connected cinematic universe or will each of these have their own slant on the character? Share your thoughts below!
