Ever since this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, we’ve known that Michael Emerson (‘Lost‘,’Person of Interest‘) would be playing a villain in the sixth season of ‘Arrow‘ and now are getting clues as to who he’ll be playing. We know that Kirk Acevedo will be playing the central villain Richard Dragon but still haven’t had a clue as to who Emerson might be playing.
The hint comes from Wendy Mericle who is the co-showrunner and producer of ‘Arrow’ who talks about Emerson’s performance by stating:
“He is a dream to work with, and I think he’s doing an amazing job. We’ve seen some dailies of some of his episodes and he’s just fantastic. He’s a really understated, subtle actor, and that brings a different energy on set. It’s great.”
No hints from that but she does say that of his character it will be in some ways similar to the villains that he has played in the past which include a computer genius on ‘Person of Interest’, a serial killer in ‘The Practice’, and a master manipulator on ‘Lost’:
“This character that we’re having [Michael] play is somewhat similar to people has has played in the past. But we had many conversations with him about how to make it different, and what elements we could bring to the character to change it up.”
The idea of a computer guru almost feels like he could end up being the founder of Helix, Cayden James that Felicity Smoak helped to escape from ARGUS. There was too much setup there for the plot line to not be continued in the upcoming season. Of course, with how versatile Emerson’s roles have been over the years it really could be anyone.
Who do you think Michael Emerson will be playing when he debuts on ‘Arrow’ in the upcoming season? Share your thoughts below!
‘Arrow’ returns to The CW on Thursday October 12 at 9 PM.
