American Horror Story cult plot

We saw the first trailer from ‘American Horror Story: Cult‘ yesterday and now the official site is giving us some solid plot points for the series. In the trailer, we learned that the election kicks off a round of phobias which includes clowns that will be a central theme in the season. In fact, it will be fan-favorite Sarah Paulson that has to deal with them!

When Donald Trump wins we see Sarah Paulson‘s Ally and Alison Pill’s Ivy watching in Michigan and not at all thrilled about the results. Ally loses it a little, and we see her starting to spiral out of control to the point where she goes to see her therapist played by Cheyenne Jackson. We learn that she’s starting to see clowns everywhere though if she actually is or if someone is messing with her isn’t clear from the get-go.

On the flip side, Evan Peters is overly thrilled about the win. If there is a cult, it looks as if his character Kai is part of it and talks Billie Lourd’s Winter into getting the job as Ally and Ivy’s nanny. Her real job is to ramp up the fear of clowns while causing dissent in the family. Why? We have no idea, but we do see that her character gifts their son a toy of Twisty the Clown.

The next scene is Ally trying to keep their son safe, grabbing a gun to protect him, and a jump scare with another clown.

It still isn’t clear the direction that this season will be heading but the pieces are starting to fall into place and once more we’re being given a lot more than seasons before ‘American Horror Story: Ronaok’ in terms of plot points.
