The upcoming fourth season of Th CW’s #1 rated show, ‘The Flash’ is getting a little extra star power– or rather ‘Battlestar’ power.  Katee Sackhoff rocketed to fame playing Captain Kara ‘Starbuck’ Thrace on the hit series ‘Battlestar Galactica’ and has spent the past five years headlining A&E’s ‘Longmire’ as Victoria ‘Vic’ Moretti.  In the meantime, she’s appeared on ’24’ and genre projects like ‘Star Wars: The Clone Wars as Bo-Katan, ‘Robot Chicken as Bitch Puddin’ and others, and as Kimberly in the viral ‘Dark Power Rangers’ video.

Sackhoff is playing supervillain Blacksmith, alias Amunet Black, who runs a seedy underground black market for other criminals called The Network and has a small army of metahumans to help keep things under her control.  She will first appear in episode 405, entitled ‘Girls Night Out’ which will be a “mini-crossover” with ‘Arrow’ guest-starring Emily Bett Rickards (Felicity Smoak).

The character Blacksmith was introduced in the 2001 comic book ‘Flash: Iron Heights’ by Geoff Johns and Ethan Van Sciver.  She was briefly married to the villain Goldface and stole some of the elixer that gave him powers.  She herself gained the ability to manipulate metal and bond it to her skin.  Among the Rogue’s under her command are Magenta, Plunder, Girder and Murmer.  Of these, Girder has appeared on the show, portrayed by Greg Finley and Joey King has played Magenta.

It has already been revealed that Hartley Sawyer will pop up in Season Four as Ralph Dibny the Elongated Man, a longtime Flash supporting character who went on to greater heights as a member of several lineups of the Justice League.  The Thinker/Clifford DeVoe played by Neil Sandilands is this season’s Big Bad.  Other villains appearing are Kim Engelbrecht as The Thinker’s assistant Mechanic, Sugar Lyn Beard as Hazard/Rebecca Sharpe who runs an underground metahuman Fight Club, and classic tough guy Danny Trejo as Breacher, Gypsy’s father from Earth-19.

Other ‘Battlestar Galactica’ alumni who have visited the Arrowverse include Aaron Douglas who portrayed Russell Glosson/Turtle on ‘The Flash’ and James Callis who portrayed The Dodger, Tahmoh Penikett who played Nick Salvati and Rekha Sharma who played Claire Abbott on ‘Arrow’.  (Sharma and Callis appeared on the same episode.)

‘The Flash’ returns on Tuesday, Oct. 10 at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.  Are you excited?  Do you think Sackhoff will make a good villain?
