It looks as if Anabelle Gish isn’t the only star reappearing when ‘The X-Files‘ returns on Fox as both Robbie Amell (‘The Flash’,’ARQ’) and Lauren Ambrose (‘Six Feet Under’,’Torchwood: Miracle Day’) have also signed on! With 10-episodes instead of six this time around you might hope that you’d see more of this pair on screen. However, as early reports say that most of these episodes will be stand alone ones, I would expect that we will only see them in the bookend mythology episodes or just a single one.
Amell will be reprising his role as Agent Miller with Ambrose back as Agent Einstein. The two were FBI special agents that really felt to be younger versions of Mulder and Scully and I suspect were created in case the network decided they could use these shows as a way to pass the torch and bring in a new set of agents. Not only was their interactions with one another amusing, but they tended to be paired off with the older agents which they wouldn’t have been on the same page with. I’m not sure if I’d prefer to see them working once again as secondary characters or possibly get a more front and center role as the eleventh season progresses.
Also returning this season will be Mitch Peleggi as FBI assistant director Walter Skinner and we can bet that William B. Davis will make an appearance or two as the Cigarette-Smoking Man though there hasn’t been an official announcement about his part yet.
Are you looking forward to the return of ‘The X-Files’? Do you think that Amell and Ambrose have the right kind of chemistry to get a spinoff or help carry the series moving forward if Chris Carter split his time between these two, Mulder, and Sculley? Share your thoughts below!
