We’ve been all hoping for a standalone Hulk movie ever since Mark Ruffalo finally gave us a Bruce Banner which everyone was able to enjoy in ‘The Avengers.’ Now he is crushing those hopes for good. Ruffalo is being so blunt on the idea that he is going so far as to say that it “will never happen.” Ideally, we’ll still see plenty of the Green Goliath in upcoming Avengers films and more team-ups such as ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ (which looks to have once again captured the essence of the character as well as borrow from one of his best story arcs in recent years).

The sad news came from Disney’s D23 Expo when, in a recent interview, Ruffalo was asked about a potential film which is where he smashed any hope of it happening by stating:

“I just want to make one thing perfectly clear today, a standalone Hulk movie will never happen, because Universal has the rights to the standalone Hulk movie and for some reason, they don’t know how to play well with Marvel, and they don’t want to make money.”

Now as you can hear in the clip we have at the bottom of the post, he is saying this more in jest than anger. However, he isn’t thrilled that it won’t happen.

“We’ve talked about it but I just don’t see it in the cards.”

Thanks, Universal. If ‘The Mummy’ is any indication it is clear they should keep blowing money on the ‘Dark Universe’ instead of making it with Marvel Studios! Low blow? After what they’ve released so far I don’t think many will disagree.

You can watch the actual clip right here:

We haven’t seen War Machine and Hulk really playing together on the big screen but I think Don Cheadle and Ruffalo could have some fun playing off one another in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The Hulk will next be smashing his way onto the big screen in ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ on November 3rd, 2017!
