While fans might not be thrilled that Mark Ruffalo‘s Hulk isn’t getting his own movie, at least we can be happy that he is getting his own prominent story arc over the course of a few films. Ruffalo spilled the beans on a bit of what we can expect for the future of the Jade Giant.

A recent rumor had it sounding like a riff on the ‘Planet Hulk‘ storyline is what would draw Hulk and Thor together in ‘Thor: Ragnarok‘ and while Ruffalo would love a true standalone film (which is still off the table due to Universal owning the rights), he did share a few fun hints:

“We’ve worked a really interesting arc into Thor 3, Avengers 3 and 4 for Banner that I think will – when it’s all added up – will feel like a Hulk movie, a standalone movie.”

With Hulk cutting himself off from the rest of humanity at the end of ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron,’ it seems the one way we could get a ‘Planet Hulk’ riff would be him traveling to another planet. I just hope that they explain it in a way that doesn’t feel rushed. As I don’t think he’ll be quite as jaded against humanity as he was in the initial story line, it would be easier for them to have Thor and Banner getting together to have a “universal road movie”.

Thankfully it sounds as if he’ll have a major role in three films to help flesh out his story. Honestly, what I’m really looking forward to is seeing Hulk try to take on Thanos.
