the tick

After a kid-friendly Saturday-morning cartoon version in 1994 and a criminally short-lived live-action version in 2001, independent comic-book character The Tick is getting another shot at televised glory, thanks to online retail and streaming giant Amazon.  After a well-received pilot premiere last year, the series order came relatively quickly, but info on the first season has been relatively quiet to date.  Now, Amazon has given us a first look at the series, in video-trailer form.

Based on the comic series created by Ben Edlund in 1988 and primarily produced in print form with New England Comics, The Tick is a nigh-indestructible superhero in a skin-tight blue suit – even if he can’t remember who he is or where he came from.  Sworn to protect The City, The Tick works alongside his trusty “sidekick” Arthur and a slew of other delightfully random heroes.  In Amazon’s version, Peter Serafinowicz stars as the titular hero; the series also features Griffin Newman as Arthur, Jackie Earle Haley, Valorie Curry, Yara Martinez, and Brendan Hines.

Take a peek at the trailer below:

In a world where superheroes have been real for decades, the new The Tick series follows an underdog accountant with zero powers who comes to realize his city is owned by a global super villain long-thought dead. As he struggles to uncover this conspiracy, he falls in league with a strange blue superhero called The Tick.

Get ready world, ‘The Tick’ will be unleashed upon you next month!

‘The Tick’ debuts on August 25, 2017, on Amazon Prime’s streaming service.
