Bruce Campbell is going to be a daddy! At least, he’s going to play one as we’ve learned that Ashley J. “Ash” Williams will have a kid in the third season of ‘Ash vs. Evil Dead‘. The news came out at the 43rd Annual Saturn Awards when Campbell dropped the bombshell announcement in a video interview which no one saw coming. It’ll be interesting to see how Sam Raimi’s creative staff places another strong woman in Ash’s life and one that he can’t so easily get away from. Starz has been quite successful with reviews on bringing this show to life so far, and I suspect we’ll be in for a real treat when this one drops.
In a video interview over at Geek Girl Project Campbell stated that:
“Wait until you see Season 3, baby. It’s off the charts. We’re jumping off a cliff at the end. It will never be the same. The world will never be the same at the end of this season. There’s some big shit that happens – Ash’s daughter. Ash has a child. She’s in trouble. She’s a target. The demons are like the mafia. They go after your family. Not only has saved the world, now he has to raise a daughter — a teenager. An unruly teenager.”
“An unruly teenager” sounds like just the kind of problem that Ash is ill-equipped to handle and would usually drop in a heartbeat. You know, if it wasn’t for his moral core that he tries to keep buried at all times.
Interestingly enough, ex-showrunner Craig DiGregorio had pitched an alternate ending of the second season which would have had Kelly be his daughter so it sounds like some aspects of his plan may have remained intact. I’m sure we’ll hear casting news for the daughter and potentially even her mother if she’s alive on the show.
