Valerian

With ‘Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets’ set to hit theaters later this month (on July 21st to be exact) during an already crowded summer movie scene, it is important for the new sci-fi film to distinguish itself early on to audiences. All of which makes the release of today’s batch of clips very important, as it really highlights the incredible visuals of the film, which admittedly should be no surprise considering director Luc Besson was also responsible for bringing us cult-favorite film ‘The Fifth Element,’ which also had a very cool look to it.

The first clip below gives us our first introduction to the city of Alpha, touching on various sectors on the city where the various species (over 3,000 of them) live, and letting us know the city itself houses over 30 million individuals. The other clips are more action and plot based, though one has Valerian crashing through walls and sectors as he attempts to make his way back to his team, and features a cool dive through many unique parts of the city. There’s also a clip of Valerian and Laureline on the run from a massive creature in the sand, another clip of them arriving in their ship at a different planet with Valerian commenting on her piloting skills, and a last clip of Laureline interrogating 3 aliens on the whereabouts of her partner who appears to have gone missing.
