hannibal-toasting

While the third season of ‘Hannibal‘ did give us an ending to the series, it was long known that the creators had plenty of stories left to tell before it was cancelled and Bryan Fuller weighs in on a potential Season 4 revival. NBC gave us three seasons which fans and critics both loved, but the ratings weren’t in its favor. Every year the cast and crew have stressed that they’d love to revisit the series to tell a few more stories that were being cooked up and now it looks like they might be able to grill up that same magic once again!

According to Fuller:

“I have conversations with Martha De Laurentiis. I have conversations with Mads and Hugh. We’re are all excited about the prospect of returning to the story. There’s some hurdles to get through. The rights revert back to Martha in September, I believe. Then it’s a matter of, ‘Do we do it with Gaumont?’ Which would be the only way to do it if we wanted to use those characters.”

It sounds like this September; things might be able to move forward once again. Now, Gaumont has never said they weren’t interested in continuing as only NBC was the one to have pulled the plug. This could very well mean that we’ll be getting a Christmas present this fall in the form of a fourth season announcement. Of course, they would still need to find a new home for the show on another network or streaming service, though I suspect we could likely hear someone like Netflix snap it up in an instant if they had the option.

Good news for fans if they are able to get picked back up as Fuller stated that the cancellation was so crushing:

“I just had a great idea for Season 4. There’s an interesting next chapter in the relationship between Will Graham and Hannibal Lecter that would be fascinating to unpack. I’ve shared it with the gentlemen, and they’re both keen on it.”

It sounds like we’re still not in ‘Silence of the Lambs’ territory for at least another season which could likely be where they close the show. I’m eager to see what they have in mind and hope that we might finally be in for some good news here.

Would you love to hear that we’ll get another round of ‘Hannibal’ if this goes through? What do you think that Fuller’s idea for a follow-up season could be? Share your thoughts below!
