The release of ‘Alien: Covenant‘ is right around the corner and director Ridley Scott has already made it clear that he is on board for future installments in the franchise and is now sharing a bit about what we can expect. One thing that is clear right off the bat, though, is that he wants to make sure we’re in for a horrifying experience which isn’t quite what he had delivered with ‘Prometheus.’ Already from the trailer alone, the upcoming film looks to have more scares and it sounds like that is the goal moving forward as well as he stated that “It’s easier to make people smile and laugh. To really scare the living daylights out of somebody is getting almost impossible.”

When talking about ‘Prometheus,’ Ridley stated, “I thought about it for 10 years and went back to Fox and said, ‘I think I can resurrect this old guy.” While ‘Prometheus’ didn’t receive critic or fan praise, it was pretty to watch and did lay some groundwork as to what we can likely expect going forward. One of the primary goals moving forward, according to Ridley, is to deliver directly to the events of ‘Alien’ as he promises “You’ll know full well by that point who the affectionately termed ‘space jockey’ is.”

Only, he isn’t clear if this story is going to be what is shown in ‘Alien: Covenant’ or the current set of films that he is working on. What did give him the idea though was that when he re-watched ‘Alien’ is that the skeleton we all saw at one point might not be humanoid at all but that “this could be a space suit.”

It was an interesting premise, and I just hope that the current movie is going to show us a direct link to ‘Alien’ outside of the Xenomorphs and not at least one more installment before we learn more.
