midnight-texas

If you wish that HBO’s ‘True Blood’ had never come to an end then you’ll be happy to hear that we’ve got the trailer for NBC’s upcoming series ‘Midnight, Texas.’ The series is also written by Charlaine Harris who penned the “Sookie Stackhouse” novels and has many of the same themes and types of mystical characters involved. The title card for the show reads “In this town, only outsiders fit it” so right off the bat you can expect that we’ll be seeing all kinds of non-humans in leading roles.

We start off with Francois Arnaud (‘The Tudors’) showing up as Manfred who is a psychic that can speak with spirits. He settles into Midnight and makes friends with both human and those who clearly aren’t and will obviously be the lead in the show. Sarah Ramos as Creek is also introduced as the possible love interest though Harris tends to overly complicate that area in her novels so expect this to be where quite a bit of the drama comes from. Peter Mensah’s Lemuel looks as if he’ll be a vampire that will be a significant influence as well.

I do have to say that the trailer does a decent job at introducing the leading characters for this new series and seems to combine elements from ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer,’ ‘True Blood,’ and ‘Supernatural’ which could easily draw in a few extra viewers.

Does anyone else feel that Manfred may have met up with the same hair stylist as a certain ‘Preacher’ when the trailer started up and he’s talking to that initial spirit? Are you looking forward to checking out ‘Midnight, Texas’? Do you think that Charlaine Harris has another property that will make for a hit on the small screen? Share your thoughts below!

Synopsis:

Welcome to a place where being normal is really quite strange. From Niels Arden Oplev, the visionary director of “Mr. Robot,” and based on the hit book series from author Charlaine Harris (“True Blood”), comes a journey into a remote Texas town where no one is who they seem. From vampires and witches to psychics and hit men, Midnight is a mysterious safe haven for those who are different. As the town members fight off outside pressures from rowdy biker gangs, ever-suspicious cops and their own dangerous pasts, they band together and form a strong and unlikely family.

The cast includes François Arnaud, Dylan Bruce, Parisa Fitz-Henley, Arielle Kebbel, Sarah Ramos, Peter Mensah, Yul Vazquez and Sean Bridgers.

You can sink your teeth into ‘Midnight, Texas’ when NBC debuts it on Tuesday, July 25th, 2017!
