Motion capture actor Terry Notary has played Rocket in the recent ‘Planet of the Apes’ movies and is currently storming theaters in the title role in ‘Kong: Skull Island’. This is following mo-cap work in ‘Avatar’, ‘Warcraft’ and ‘The Hobbit’ series. What’s next? Notary has just been announced as working on the presently filming ‘Avengers: Infinity War’. Notary works as a motion coach as well as a performer and it sounds as though he is doing the same here.
While promoting ‘Kong: Skull Island’, Notary revealed a little about his upcoming Marvel work, saying:
“I’m working on four characters right now. I’m working with Josh Brolin and three other actors [in Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War], and I’m playing Josh Brolin’s right hand bad guy in the film. I can’t say the name of the character or I think Marvel will sever my head, but I apply those same principals of what it means to drop bullshit and just play a character truly evil. And it’s working. [Laughs] It’s truly working.”
Josh Brolin is, of course, playing the Big Bad, Thanos, a character that has been teased since the first ‘Avengers’ in 2012. Notary says he can’t name his character, but it seems rather clear that he is playing Corvus Glaive, Thanos’ general and member of the Cull Obsidian, also known as the Black Order.
The three other actors that Notary could be referring to are most likely supplying mo-cap performances for the other members of the Black Order, most likely Black Dwarf (Glaive’s brother), Ebony Maw and Supergiant. A fifth member, Proxima Midnight is likely to appear in the movie, but will most likely be a traditional actor in makeup rather than mo-cap, based simply on the way the character appears in the comics.
Thanos alone is a massive threat to the heroes of the Marvel Universe, but now it appears that he’s bringing along four others, arguably as powerful as he is! Will the combined might of the Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy be enough to stop them all?
Are you excited that the Cull Obsidian/Black Order will be on hand to assist Thanos in ‘Avengers: Infinity War’?
