sinister

With ‘Logan‘ about to be released, it should come as no surprise that more details are coming out about the film and this not-exactly-a-spoiler spoiler sheds some light on the movie. In the comics, we know that X-23 is a clone of Wolverine and now we’ve learned that this will likely be the case from the film as well. Not only that, but we’ve learned where the program which clones Laura from Logan’s DNA has gotten the sample.

X-Men: Apocalypse‘ teased the ESSEX CORP which long term fans of the X-Men know means that we’ll be seeing an appearance of Mr. Sinister sooner than later.

While we first thought the villain would show up on ‘Logan’ that no longer seems to be the case. However, did James Mangold’s film still find a way to have the DNA sample shown be used here to create Laura?

According to producer Simon Kinberg:

“Yes, that is the implication.”

So, there you go. We’ll see that Mister Sinister was tied in here and there is a good chance that the X-Men had run into him between ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ and ‘Logan.’ Does that mean we’ll see the villain in one of the upcoming Fox films? Kinberg reveals:

“The short answer is yes. We would love to see Sinister. I think he is one of the great untapped villains in the X-Men universe, and we do have plans to introduce him into the world.”

That is fantastic news! With how much he has put into following the Summers family and Jean it could easily mean he would show up in ‘Deadpool 2‘ or ‘X-Force‘ to go up against Cable. However, I find it more likely that he’ll either be the catalyst to kick off Jean into the Dark Phoenix in ‘X-Men: Supernova’ or that the film will have another Essex tease which will culminate into the next major ‘X-Men’ feature.

Are you looking forward to the introduction of Mr. Sinister into the X-Men’s cinematic universe or do you feel like he is a character which could be a bit of a stretch to keep grounded in reality on the big screen? Which film will we likely see him officially introduced in? Share your thoughts below True Believers!

Directed by James Mangold, ‘Logan’ stars Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, Richard E. Grant, Boyd Holbrook, Stephen Merchant, and Dafne Keen and claws its way into theaters on March 3, 2017.
