Simon Kinberg may have just announced two long term future mutant projects that Fox has in store and they are ‘Alpha Flight’ and ‘Exiles’! Fox is juggling a lot of projects right now with the upcoming ‘X-Men’ movie, ‘New Mutants‘, ‘Deadpool 2’, and ‘X-Force‘ and now it seems that they want to add two new superhero teams to the mix. Now, I’d like to state that these two aren’t officially confirmed at this time but are clearly on Fox’s drafting table with what Kinberg had to say about it.

Here is what this famed ‘X-Men’ producer has had to say:

“We have a sense of where each of all of the existing characters go from Deadpool to New Mutants to the mainland X-Men movies to potentially even X-23. Then, there’s other characters, like Alpha Flight, like Exiles… There’s a lot of characters to mine going forward. We’re still sort of in this phase where now we’ve completed the Wolverine story with Logan and we begin hopefully with New Mutants and eventually Gambit and continue with Deadpool.”

These two teams aren’t quite as mainstream as what Fox currently has announced. However, Marvel has proven with ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ that with a properly done film you can take a team of B-listers and make them into one of your highest grossing and positively received movies to date.

For ‘Alpha Flight’ we have a Canadian group of mutant superheroes who are government sanctioned and includes Northstar, Puck, Snowbird, Shaman, and a rotating cast of other members. It should also be noted that Wolverine has long been affiliated with the group due to his Canadian heritage and has been both friends with many of them as well as a member. In recent years there has been a more cosmic connection associated with the heroes which have a lot of potential depending on what direction they’d like to take the film.

The other movie idea he mentioned is based on the ‘Exiles.’ This group has included Beast, Forge, The Panther, The Witch, Polaris, and most importantly Blink. We know that Jamie Chung was cast as the character in the upcoming unnamed ‘X-Men’ series, so there is quite a bit of crossover potential here.

Are you looking forward to Fox expanding their mutant franchises? Would you rather see ‘Alpha Flight’ or ‘Exiles’ hit the big screen first? Share your thoughts below True Believers!
