thor-ragnarok

We’ve heard for awhile that small parts of the ‘Planet Hulk’ story arc were going to make their way into ‘Thor: Ragnarok‘ and newly released concept art helps to not only confirm that but hint at what we might see! While this likely further proves that we’ll never see a fully realized ‘Planet Hulk’ story arc on the big screen, it is great to see that parts of it will shine through.

The new concept art does switch things up from the general ‘Planet Hulk’ story arc as it looks as if Cate Blanchett’s Hela is pitting Thor and Hulk against one another in gladiator styled combat in front of a huge audience. Knowing the domain which Hela rules in the comics it would likely be that this is an audience of the dead.

In the comics, we saw Hulk have to face off against the Silver Surfer for that story arc and while this will clearly be a highly condensed version it will be fun to watch these two throw down again before eventually working together to take down Hela and whoever else stands in their way.

Personally, I’m curious as to if this adventure between the realms will fall squarely into a story arc involving Loki’s rule of Asgard, a lead into Thanos making a play for an Infinity Stone, or a combination of the two.

Are you looking forward to seeing this nod to ‘Planet Hulk’ play out in ‘Thor: Ragnarok’? What do you think was the cause of these two heroes having to fight one another? Share your thoughts below True Believers!
