Casting has been firming up for the reboot of ‘Terminator‘ and we’ve just learned that Natalia Reyes (‘Lady, La Vendedora de Rosas’,’2091′) has taken the leading role in the film! The studio has been looking for a Latina actress to lead the film and while Reyes might be new to American audiences has had a steady career in the industry since 2006.

Reyes will be playing the role of Dani who is “a young woman from a working-class neighborhood in Mexico City who finds herself in the battle between humans and machines.”

She’ll be joining a cast that features returning stars Linda Hamilton and Arnold Schwarzenegger with new faces that include Mackenzie Davis (‘Blade Runner 2049’), Gabriel Luna (‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’), and Diego Boneta (‘Scream Queens’). In the upcoming film we’ll see Boneta playing Dani’s brother, Davis is set to be a “soldier-assassin from the future”, while Luna is going to portray a Terminator in the film.

Hamilton will naturally be reprising her role as Sarah Connor when she returns. It isn’t clear if Schwarzenegger will be the Terminator who we all came to love from ‘Terminator 2: Judgment Day’ or once again will be a killing machine bent on helping destroy humankind. My money is on the first option. It is unknown at this time if there will be any inclusion of either John Connor or Kyle Reese.

The early word on their appearances is that both Hamilton and Schwarzenegger only have brief parts in the film so I’m not sure if they’d be able to even shoehorn in much else if they won’t be having a ton of screen time.

Hopefully, we’ll find out more when production begins.

Are you looking forward to the newly rebooted take on ‘Terminator’? Will this be a soft reboot or hard reboot of the franchise? Share your thoughts below!
