If there is one thing you can count on with a project set in the MCU, it is that Stan Lee will be making some kind of appearance, even if it is just his picture somewhere in the background. Such has been the case with the Netflix corner of the MCU, and it seems that will continue to be the case when ‘The Defenders’ comes to Netflix this summer.
Thanks to a set photo snapped by a fan and posted on Reddit, Stan Lee’s cameo in the highly anticipated crossover series has been revealed, you can check out the pic from the set here. It looks like Jessica Jones, looking strangely happy for some reason, comes across a large poster of Stan Lee dressed the same as he was in earlier Netflix MCU shows as a spokesman for the police department, this time with the motto “Hey New Y0rk! Not all heroes wear capes!”
True, it is somewhat disappointing to know what Stan Lee’s cameo is ahead of time, when spotting him in one of these shows or movies is always a treat, but since in the Netflix shows he has yet to make a physical appearance, it is less disappointing than if he were to actually show up in person and that were spoiled. Stan’s appearances in Marvel movies has been occurring for decades now, and has long been a fan favorite treat for the movies, with some fans even going so far as to speculate that he might even be the MCU’s version of The Watcher character, though most agree that his appearances are really just Easter eggs, meant to pay homage to the man who helped create all of these wonderful characters, and whose appearance has really become a great recurring gag.
