guardians-of-the-galaxy-vol-2

Some news outlets recently were reporting a rumor that ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2‘ would include the Elders and director James Gunn has actually taken time to debunk this rumor. Gunn is known for letting rumors fly left and right on his film though when a report saying that the Elders of the Universe would have an important part in the upcoming film he just had to step up and deny it.

The rumor places Benicio del Toro as The Collector, Elizabeth Debicki as Ayesha, and two mystery characters portrayed by Sylvester Stallone and Sharone Stone all having a big part in the film. With Star-Lord’s father having been revealed to be Ego the Living Planet this could almost be feasible but Gunn didn’t want anyone buying into this rumor.

With the source being a pretty reliable one for breaking industry scoops it should come as no real surprise that Gunn would want to steer viewers away from what was being reported. Still, it is a bit out of character and could almost have you thinking it was misdirection.

What are your thoughts on Gunn actually responding to rumors for ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’? Do you think an introduction to The Elders would be a good step for the cosmic side of things or just something that doesn’t matter for where we are in Marvel’s Cinematic Universe?
