Since production started a few months ago, the live-action adaptation of ‘Ghost in the Shell’ has been making plenty of headlines. The majority of them had to do with whitewashing main character Major Motoko Kusanagi by casting Scarlett Johansson in the role, but today’s news is a little different. Now we have our first look at footage from the film.

During the season finale of ‘Mr. Robot’ on the USA Network last night, Paramount Pictures released a series of teasers for Rupert Sanders’ upcoming project based on the acclaimed anime and manga. Much like the marketing for newly crowned Emmy winner Rami Malek’s show, these TV spots are very mysterious and incredibly cryptic. Although, the quick glimpses that we do see are practically lifted straight from the source material ala Zack Snyder’s ‘Watchmen’. You can check out all five teasers below:

Those videos are pretty trip for sure, but they’re almost certainly a prelude to a longer trailer coming our way sooner rather than later. However, until that drops, here’s the official synopsis of the film to make a little more sense of what you can expect from the film:

Based on the internationally-acclaimed sci-fi property, ‘Ghost in the Shell’ follows the Major, a special ops, one-of-a-kind human-cyborg hybrid, who leads the elite task force Section 9. Devoted to stopping the most dangerous criminals and extremists, Section 9 is faced with an enemy whose singular goal is to wipe out Hanka Robotic’s advancements in cyber technology.
