‘Deadpool’ was such a rousing smash that a sequel was a no-brainer and is due to begin filming early next year. So who might be joining Ryan Reynolds onscreen?
Mashable’s Jeff Sneider appeared on ‘Meet the Movie Press’ and revealed the name of the actor who may be attached to Cable.
“People were talking about Cable from Deadpool 2. There’s been a name floating around for Cable for months. Hasn’t changed. Don’t know if its changed. Didn’t make any calls about this. This was just the name that has been out there for months. So take this with a gigantic grain of salt. The biggest grain of salt your tiny little brain can imagine. The name that is floating around for Cable right now is Kyle Chandler.”
At age 50, Chandler is best known for playing Texas high school football coach Eric Taylor on ‘Friday Night Lights’ for which he won a Primetime Emmy. He can currently be seen on the Netflix series ‘Bloodline’. He has also appeared in feature films like ‘Super 8’, ‘Argo’, ‘Zero Dark Thirty’ and ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’.
Chandler might seem like an unlikely choice as he doesn’t look as grizzled and old as the comic book version of Cable. Previously both Ron Perlman and Stephen Lang have publicly declared a desire to play the cybernetic mutant from the future who is the son of Cyclops and Madelyn Pryor. And both of those actors look closer to the way the character is rendered in the comics. But there’s more to playing a part than looks. And Chandler has the acting awards to confirm that he has chops.
Keep in mind that this is just a rumor for now.
Now what about Domino? Sneider stated:
“The name for Domino, who is said to be the scene-stealer of the movie, is Mackenzie Davis.”
Davis is currently filming the untitled ‘Blade Runner’ sequel with Harrison Ford, Robin Wright and Ryan Gosling and is getting ready to costar with Charlize Theron in the Diablo Cody-penned comedy ‘Tully’. She starred in the now-cancelled AMC series ‘Halt and Catch Fire’ and had a small role in ‘The Martian’.
Domino is Cable’s second-in-command, is an expert combatant and possesses good luck powers for herself, but bad luck for her enemies.
What do you think of these choices? Would they make for a good Cable and Domino? Or would you prefer someone else in those roles?
