While many had originally pegged ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice‘ as the sequel to ‘Man of Steel‘, we’ve just learned that a ‘Man of Steel 2‘ has just gone into development. The DC Extended Universe is growing and now ‘Man of Steel 2’ is actively going forward over at Warner Brothers and while we don’t know when they are putting it into the slew of DCEU films that are already in various parts of production, I suspect it will be after ‘Justice League’ which is currently filming and is rumored to be set after Ben Affleck’s stand-alone ‘Batman’ movie.

According to inside sources, ‘Man of Steel 2’ is a “top priority” and this time they are making sure that they are “getting the character right for audiences” which seems to be a common complaint in Zack Snyder‘s take on DC’s heroes so far. I’m sure Henry Cavill is silently hoping that Snyder isn’t in charge of this one so we can maybe not have such a dark film and have Superman actually crack a smile, save a kitten, or maybe just put someone in jail instead of just killing his enemies.

Obviously, there is still no word as to how he’ll be brought back to life after the events in ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’ but I’m sure it won’t be long until we see Superman flying around once more. My bet is during the ‘Justice League’ movie.

With each DC movie getting more positive reviews than the last, by the time ‘Man of Steel 2’ comes out they might finally have a formula that works to have audiences excited about DC releases as they are for Marvel Studios ones. I’d hope so as some healthy competition between the two companies can only benefit moviegoers on the whole!

Are you excited to hear about a new outing for the Man of Steel? Who would you like to see direct the film? Do you think they’ll lighten the tone or go with the overly dark vibe that has been a constant complaint from moviegoers? When do you think that he’ll return from the grave?
