Game of Thrones

Winter might be here but so is apparently a spoiler for the upcoming seventh season of ‘Game of Thrones‘ as Nikolaj Coster-Waldau got a little too chatty about Jon Snow. We’ve seen quite a few rumors and theories come up about Snow over the past few years and it looks as if the actor who plays Jaime Lannister may have just confirmed one of the biggest ones to date.

Oops.

This reveal is a pretty huge spoiler even if most of you have already decided if it was true or not so if you’d like to go into the seventh season and be surprised you should turn back now.

It all came out on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ when Nikolaj Coster-Waldau was being interviewed to help promote the upcoming season of ‘Game of Thrones.’ Kimmel called him out for lying about Jon Snow being dead after the Season 5 finale as every other cast member did. The actor decided to say he hadn’t been lying but had been playing with words by stating:

“The thing is, Jon Snow is dead, but Jon Stark-Targaryen has risen from the dead.”

If this proves true and not just another piece of messing with the crowd then it likely confirms the R + L = J theory that Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark are Jon’s parents – which makes Dany his aunt. This is long held to be what actually happened, but it looks as if Coster-Waldau may have confirmed it a little early.

Immediately after both Kimmel and Coster-Waldau tried to play it off as a joke, but I suspect that the HBO Overlords are a little annoyed right now. You can check out the video below and judge for yourself if he just made a huge reveal by accident or was just kidding around:

With the new season debuting this weekend, we’ll see what this means for the series soon enough.

Do you think that Nikolaj Coster-Waldau just revealed one of the biggest fan theories of ‘Game of Thrones’ to be true? Will we discover this in the first episode or will it drag out until the end of the season? Share your thoughts below!
