Luke Cage

If last month’s trailer for ‘Luke Cage’ left you wanting more, Netflix has you covered! They released a new trailer for the series making it harder for fans to wait for next month’s series premiere.

Luke Cage (played by Mike Colter) is the third member of the Netflix Defenders team who was first introduced in last year’s ‘Jessica Jones’ (if you haven’t seen it, you need to binge watch it now!). The series takes place a few months after he leaves Jessica and has him in Harlem questioning himself as he admits, “I’m not sure what I am… I’m just living my life day to day.”

Colter revealed the mindset that we find his character in at the beginning of this series:

“He’s tending bar, he’s bouncing around. And for good reason; he’s a fugitive. He has some skeletons in his closet. He’s trying to basically stay off the radar. The people he hangs out with, though, are in need. Ultimately, he’d rather be alone, but with the way he’s equipped he does step up. That’s what it’s about, it’s about finding that inner feeling to make you want to take action.”

The trailer gives our first really good look at the series. Where Jessica downplayed her superhero strengths, Luke has no qualms using his to protect Harlem. We also get our first look at some of the other characters in the series as well as a look at the main villain Cornell “Cottonmouth” Stokes (Mahershala Ali) who in the comics has super strength just like Cage so it will be interesting to see how that plays out.

So far Netflix has managed to give each of its Marvel superheroes series a distinct and individual feel that has us excited! Check out the trailer below!

After a sabotaged experiment leaves him with super strength and unbreakable skin, Luke Cage (Mike Colter) becomes a fugitive trying to rebuild his life in modern day Harlem, New York City. But he is soon pulled out of the shadows and must fight a battle for the heart of his city – forcing him to confront a past he had tried to bury.

‘Luke Cage’ which stars Mike Coulter, Mahershala Ali, Alfre Woodard, Rosario Dawson, Sonia Braga, Frank Whaley, Simone Missick and Theo Rossi will premiere on Netflix on September 30.
