Sharknado-The-4th-Awakens-Poster-Art

Why are we still making ‘Sharknado‘ movies? Well, I suppose it all comes down to the fact that even though every one of them is absolutely terrible, the movies have been able to deftly skirt the line between terrible which is appalling to watch, and terrible that is so bad that it is suddenly fun to watch, just to see how much of a train wreck it is. The premise of these movies has never been that involved anyway, revolving (get it?) around tornados striking major cities with killer sharks within, ready to strike out at any and all unsuspecting civilians below. And after 3 movies, it seems that people are still entertained by the franchise and its antics (aka its terribleness), hence why we are now getting ‘Sharknado: The 4th Awakens.’

The just-released trailer features all of the elements of the original 3 films in the series, including the return of Ian Ziering and Tara Reid in the main roles of the film, only this time is appears that they have just experienced 5 Sharknado free years, only to discover the Sharknados are back, and taking on new forms to boot. It looks like the bulk of the action will take place in Vegas this time around, though apparently there are “firenados” and “oilnados” striking other parts of the country as well (I’m assuming there are sharks in both of those, but who knows). And from the trailer, it looks like the 4th movie in the franchise is going to do its best to hit all of the action-movie tropes for disaster flicks, including more destruction of landmarks, irreverent civilian deaths, and what appears to even be someone in a mech/robot suit going in to fight the Sharknado.

Check out the new trailer from SyFy below, and then let us know your thoughts on the franchise, and whether we will ever see an end to the ridiculousness that is ‘Sharknado.’
