Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

Star Wars Celebration has kicked off and the first big news to emerge from a galaxy far far away is both a new official poster for ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story‘ as well as a video on the making of the film! The full panel for the film had both stars from the movie as well as the creative team behind it and we’re happy to share some details about the rebels who were preparing to steal plans of the Death Star.

Well, not too many details as Lucasfilm still has the plot tightly hidden behind the might of the Empire but being able to see the stars in action was a true treat. The real treats though were a new trailer, which was “just for people in this room” according to Kathleen Kennedy and the following behind-the-scenes video!

I believe we can all agree that extra details about probably the largest fan favorite set of films of all time are always welcome.

While we can’t show you the trailer quite yet, Deadline describes it as:

Over a sequence that begins with a young Jyn Erso running through a field, then switching to her older self (played by Felicity Jones) in battle with her band of rebels, the trailer showcased plenty of the new characters and environments in the Gareth Edwards-directed spin-off story. A voiceover from Jones laid out the stakes: “Every day we grow weaker, while they grow stronger. This is our chance to make a real difference.” At the trailer’s end the biggest tease for fans: on a black floor, Darth Vader’s familiar silhouette, before his ventilator mask takes an iconic, ominous breath.

I honestly can’t wait for December 16th! These stand-alone films are a huge deviation from our classic sets of trilogies and I think it will be a fun way to expand the ‘Star Wars’ universe not just by giving us more stories but also new types of tales. A heist movie in space set in the ‘Star Wars’ universe just puts a smile on my face.

Of course, we also have this amazing new poster to share with you:

I love the look of not just the Death Star in the background but overlooking a more tropical setting than we’re used to for the universe.

Are you looking forward to ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’? Can you wait until the trailer drops at some point in the near future? Share your thoughts below!

Directed by Gareth Edwards, ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’ stars Felicity Jones, Mads Mikkelsen, Ben Mendelsohn, Alan Tudyk, Donnie Yen, Forest Whitaker, Diego Luna, Riz Ahmed, and Jiang Wen and will fly into theaters on December 16th, 2016.
