Universal Studios hasn’t been shy in hiring talent for their upcoming cinematic classic monster universe and now it looks as if Javier Bardem will be signing up to play the monster in ‘Frankenstein’.
With a ‘Bride of Frankenstein’ in the works as well as other future tie-ins, this could be the role with the highest potential of crossing over into other films. There is no word as to who would be playing Dr. Victor Frankenstein though an early rumor has Angelina Jolie up for the Bride. In fact, if the films are crossing over into one another it wouldn’t be too surprising to see a hint of Frankenstein’s monster show up in ‘The Mummy‘ or the end credits though from what it sounded like we may already have another monster having their debut in the film. Apparently, there was some confusion as to if Bardem would be playing Victor or the Monster when this originally came up as Variety reporter clarified:
To be clear, he would be playing the monster in some form not Victor

The studio clearly loves Bardem as this wasn’t the first role they had eyed him for as he was originally approached before Russel Crowe to play Dr. Jekyll. If he takes the part, Bardem will also be joining Sofia Boutella, Tom Cruise, and Johnny Depp among others.
There is no set release date for the new take on ‘Frankenstein’ at this time. We’ll see if Bardem will take the offer but Universal clearly wants him and to be honest, I think he could pull off the part.
Do you think that Javier Bardem would make a good Frankenstein’s monster or should they be looking for someone else to fill the role? Share your thoughts below!
