Mackenzie Davis (‘The Martian‘,’Halt and Catch Fire’) is returning to science fiction as she has just signed on to be part of Alcon Entertainment’s ‘Blade Runner 2‘. This gives director Denis Villeneuve that much more talent to work with as she joins a cast which already includes Harrison Ford, Ryan Gosling, Dave Bautista, Ana de Armas, Carla Juri, Sylvia Hoeks, and Robin Wright. Just as the other newcomers to the film, the only thing we know is that Ford will be reprising his role as replicant hunter Rick Deckard from the 1982 cult classic.
Clearly Ridley Scott must have enjoyed working with her on ‘The Martian’ to bring her back front and center so soon. Though, with Ana dew Armas having taken the female lead in the movie we don’t know exactly how major of a part we’ll see Davis having.
While the plot is still a heavily guarded secret we do know that it was tackled by Hampton Fancher who co-wrote the original with Michael Green and the two based it off of an idea that Fancher and Ridley Scott had put together. With principal photography kicking off in July I’m sure we’ll know more as well as have at least a couple of promos shots to look forward to by the end of next month.
