We had just seen that Josh Boone (‘The Fault in Our Stars’,’Stuck in Love’) had completed a script for the ‘Interview With the Vampire‘ and now have a clue who he may have in mind for Lestat. While most of the talk surrounding Jared Leto (‘Dallas Buyer’s Club’,’Fight Club’) right now has to do with his upcoming role as The Joker in ‘Suicide Squad’ it seems like he is on Boone’s short list for playing the central vampire in Anne Rice’s The Vampire Chronicles.

The potential announcement surfaced on Twitter when Boone tweeted that:

Which may or may not have been confirmed as being part of the cast when Anne Rice’s son Chris responded with:

At this time, no one from the studio or Jared Leto have spoken up so we can’t tell you that he is confirmed for the movie. This could very easily be Boone’s wishful thinking for the role, him having fun with the fans, or perhaps a deal has been done and just not made public yet.

Regardless seeing him go from the Crown Prince of Crime to The Brat Prince almost seems fitting. While I’m not one for reboots in general, it is clear that if the studio wants to create an ongoing series surrounding The Vampire Chronicles that they would want the same actor to portray Lestat through all of them. Leto can clearly bring an otherworldly look to the big screen and on top of that actually has the musical chops to back up singing if they are successful enough to get through ‘The Queen of The Damned’ and have him front and center on stage.

Let’s ignore the fact that the first ‘Interview with the Vampire’ doesn’t need a reboot as this is clearly going to happen. Do you think that Leto would make a good Lestat on the big screen? If not Leto, who would you like to see in the role? Share your thoughts below!
