SPOILER ALERT: This article reveals mild SPOILERS for ‘Doctor Strange’ and a pretty big SPOILER for ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’, so proceed with caution!

Most big blockbusters are shrouded in mystery before their release, but none moreso than the ‘Star Wars’ films– and the fans wouldn’t have it any other way.  Very little was known about ‘The Force Awakens’ before fans got the opportunity to see it with their own eyes.  And a similar air of mystery surrounds this year’s ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’.  Fans know the most basic details about the movie– that it involves a band of rebels attempting to steal the plans for the Death Star prior to the events of ‘Episode Four: A New Hope’.  Felicity Jones leads the ensemble cast as Jyn Erso, who is a rebel among rebels.

We had previously learned that Mads Mikkelsen was playing a character named Galen, but nothing else was known.  Mikkelson recently appeared on Sky News, however and dropped a huge bomb– just who his ‘Rogue One’ character is!  He also divulged a bit of info about ‘Doctor Strange’ but that didn’t quite compare as even the crew working on the show reacted with shock at his candor regarding the secretive ‘Star Wars’ project.

Watch the clip below IF YOU DARE!

First, ‘Doctor Strange’.  We already know Chiwetel Ejiofor is playing Baron Mordo and Marvel has denied that Mikkelsen is playing Dormammu, Nightmare or Mephisto.  Mikkelsen explains that he is sort of a “bad guy” although he clarified that he was simply a character with a different agenda than the title hero.

But of course the big reveal is that Mikkelsen’s Galen in ‘Rogue One’ is Jyn Erso’s father.  Now that doesn’t give much away in all honesty, but considering the code of silence that usually surrounds the ‘Star Wars’ movies, it was still a startling reveal.

Does this knowledge in any way spoil ‘Rogue One’ (or ‘Doctor Strange’) for you?

Directed by Gareth Edwards, ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’ stars Felicity Jones, Mads Mikkelsen, Ben Mendelsohn, Alan Tudyk, Donnie Yen, Forest Whitaker, Diego Luna, Riz Ahmed, and Jiang Wen and will fly into theaters on December 16th, 2016.

‘Doctor Strange’ directed by Scott Derrickson, starring Benedict Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Tilda Swinton, Rachel McAdams, Michael Stuhlbarg, Benedict Wong, and Mads Mikkelsen emerges on this plane on November 4, 2016.
