Last season on ‘Daredevil’, lead character Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) began a relationship with Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll), but expect things to get dicey as another mysterious woman enters Hell’s Kitchen, Elektra Natchios, played by Élodie Yung.  Elektra was mentioned in the first season and is only known to be a woman from Matt’s past.

But as comic fans know, Elektra and Matt were college lovers and she reentered his life after he’d become a super hero and she’d become a deadly assassin.

Yung described her character by saying:

“We think Elektra is a sociopath. This world is a game for her. It’s like a chess game, and what motivates her is what she wants. She’ll use anything she needs to use to get to her goal, and if she needs to kill people, she will. She has this coldness in her, and I tried to keep that. But on the other hand, we wanted to create a character with different layers. I think Elektra isn’t a bad person, but she’s not a good person. She’s a person with different traits, with layers, and she’s seeking who she is. In this season, there’s an arc to her story. Hopefully, she’ll find we’ll find out who she is, by the end of it.”

Fans weren’t sure if she’d be a costumed adventurer on the show, but the answer to that is yes!  Netflix has released the first publicity photo of Yung decked out in full Elektra garb.

Okay, well it’s not exactly Matt’s leathered-up Daredevil costume.  But at least it’s more functional than a bunch of random scarves and a long loincloth that just HAS to get in the way off her butt-kicking, like the character wore in the comics.

Want to see how the outfit looks in action?  You’re in luck!  The Daredevil Twitter account released this short teaser of Elektra in action.  One last quick note about her outfit: that’s not a cowl neck around her neck, it’s a ninja mask.  Watch the video below:

What do you think?  Does Élodie Yung have what it takes to play this lethal combatant?

‘Daredevil’ Season Two arrives in its entirety on March 18.
