Originally slated to play before screenings of ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens,’ Paramount decided to give Trekkies an early Christmas present by releasing the trailer for ‘Star Trek Beyond’ a few days sooner than expected!

Okay, the truth is that the trailer was leaked last night but it was entirely in German so it really didn’t help any of us who took Spanish in high school. But whether this convinced Paramount to put out an official version early or whether this was a planned released, we don’t know, but at least we can now see as well as understand what is being said!

One thing that really sticks out is how very different the film seems to be compared to the first rebooted ‘Star Trek’ film and its sequel ‘Star Trek Into Darkness.’ Justin Lin, who took over helming duties after J.J. Abrams went on to direct that other franchise film, certainly put his own stamp on the film! The trailer is action packed (which is very reminiscent to those ‘Fast and Furious’ films) with lots of one-liners that no doubt will be quoted over and over again even months after the film’s release.

Those who may not have been fond of the first two Roberto Orci-Alex Kurtzman written films may find this ‘Star Trek’ film a bit more to their liking. Simon Pegg, who is a big fan of the franchise, took over writing the script for ‘Star Trek Beyond‘ and has teased that it will lean towards more of what fans of the TV show would expect to see:

“…I think we just want to take it forward with the spirit of the TV show. And it’s a story about frontierism and adventure and optimism and fun, and that’s where we want to take it, you know. Where no man has gone before – where no one has gone before, sensibly corrected for a slighter more enlightened generation. But yeah, that’s the mood at the moment.”

Yes! The Enterprise will finally begin their five-year mission “to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where no one has gone before”!

Check out the trailer below and let us know if you are ready to travel with the crew of the Enterprise once again!
