Over the last few years, we have seen a massive amount of comic book properties turned into live action prime time television series. It seemed like this new comic-book-to-television renaissance began with 2012’s ‘Arrow‘, which proceeded to steamroll the ratings each week, and has since been followed up with live action adaptations of ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’, ‘The Flash‘, ‘Gotham‘, ‘I, Zombie’, and more! This season we are getting even more shows based on comics, not the least exciting of which is CBS’s upcoming television adaptation of ‘Supergirl‘! This new show tells the story of Kara Zor-El, Superman’s younger female cousin, and her adventures that occur as she tries to save the world while maintaining a normal life!
IMDB describes the shows plot as:
“Twenty-four-year-old Kara Zor-El,cousin of Superman, who was taken in by the Danvers family when she was 12 after being sent away from Krypton, must learn to embrace her powers after previously hiding them. The Danvers teach her to be careful with her powers, until she has to reveal them during an unexpected disaster, setting her on her journey of heroism.”
It isn’t hard to see why so many people would be excited to see the exploits of The Girl Of Steel on a weekly basis, but just in case you weren’t sure about why you would want to see what Kara will be up to, we talked to some of the people behind the series about why ‘Supergirl’ going to be such a great show! On hand at New York Comic Con 2015 were series stars Mehcad Brooks (James Olsen, formerly Jimmy Olsen in the DC proper), and Peter Facinelli (Maxwell Lord), as well as the series Executive Producer, Ali Adler!
