There is not official information on whether Chris Evan’s Captain America or Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man will appear in the upcoming Marvel/Sony ‘Spider-Man’ reboot, but there’s some solid evidence in favor of that report. While on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’ last Monday night (an appearance at which they unveiled the poster and trailer for ‘Captain America: Civil War’), there was a brief exchange between the two actors, which got the rumor mills going. Evans complained about the heat in Atlanta (where they filmed much of ‘Civil War’) and Downey Jr replied:

“By the way, we are going to shoot in Atlanta again, you and I.”

Evans agreed with the statement, commenting with:

“I know, I’m ready, I’m ready.”

Here’s the scoop, there is no other Marvel movie filming in Atlanta for some time. The only thing that comes close is James Gunn’s ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2,’ but Gunn has stated the only human in the film will be Peter Quill, meaning no Captain America or Iron Man, let alone both of them. The only other film that we know is shooting for Marvel in Atlanta soon is Tom Holland’s ‘Spider-Man,’ as the man recently stated while doing press for ‘In the Heart of the Sea’ that ‘Spider-Man’ will be film primarily in Atlanta. Which means Downey Jr. and Evans were most likely referencing returning to Atlanta to shoot scenes for the new ‘Spider-Man’ film, which is very exciting. And makes perfect sense.

With both Sony and Marvel desperate to relaunch the character of Spider-Man successfully, it makes a lot of business sense to put the two biggest stars of the Marvel machine into the movie, even cameos are sure to draw in huge crowds. And from a story perspective (and Comic continuity), it also makes sense, as Iron Man and Captain America are huge influences on Peter Parker. Tony Stark is everything Peter wants to be when he grows up (intelligent, rich, a hero), while Captain America embodies all of the morality and virtues that Spider-Man strives for, making both of the heroes defacto mentors for Spider-Man.

Remember to take this all with a grain of salt, but it is very exciting if true. What are your thoughts on Iron Man and Captain America showing up in ‘Spider-Man?’ Share your opinions below!
