Syfy has just released a new featurette for their upcoming adaptation of Arthur C. Clarke’s ‘Childhood’s End‘. The mini-series will run six hours and visually looks to be well put together.
That being said, the first trailer teased a world based on the novel though it clearly is an adaptation of the source material and not a direct telling. How that will play out to audiences when it is finally released is hard to tell, but at least the actors involved are clearly excited for its released.
In the featurette stars Julian McMahon and Charles Dance talk about the series and “what it means to be a part of a Utopian society.” Is Utopia worth the price that humanity will have to pay to achieve it?

You can really never go wrong when Charles Dance is involved. While on the one hand I’m not sure how faithful this will end up being to the novel, I also understand that most adaptations these days are just based off of the source material and rarely seem to follow it. That can lead to mixed results though with Syfy’s continued quest to get its core programming back to delivering pure science fiction, I do hope that we’ll have something entertaining to watch here.
