SPOILER ALERT: This article contains SPOILERS for ‘Game of Thrones’. If you don’t want to see them, turn back now!
Folks die in ‘Game of Thrones’. A lot and often. It’s just one of the signatures of the show, along with nudity and sex. (A lot and often.) And for the most part, as startling as some deaths on the show have been, fans haven’t reacted with such shock and disbelief as they have with that of the dreamy Jon Snow (Kitt Harington), one of the few completely sympathetic protagonists on the series.
The death was so surreal that many have refused to buy that his demise is even for real, despite HBO Executive Vice President of Programming Michael Ellenberg insisting that Snow “is absolutely dead.” Nevertheless, Harrington has been spotted near the Belfast set where the show is filmed. Then recently, Harrington himself spilled “Let’s just say that Game of Thrones will remain a part of my life for a while, I’ll probably be in my thirties when it’s over.”
Promising, right? Here’s more evidence and it’s pretty hard to deny! Here are two photos taken near the set:
Yep, there’s Harrington, not just NEAR the set, but ON it and in full Jon Snow-regalia. So clearly, there is at least one scene coming up featuring the thought-dead character.
Now keep in mind that this could be a flashback. Snow is wearing the armor of the House of Stark, not that of the Night Watch, so this could be a scene set prior to the first season. Beneath the umbrella is Carice von Houten, also known as Melissandre. As a Priestess of Light, could Melissandre have the power to resurrect the beloved Snow? That wouldn’t contradict Ellenberg’s statement– Snow is “absolutely dead” but that may be a temporary setback.
What do you think? Do you hope Jon Snow is still alive? Or at least coming back to life?
