Straight from director Paul Feig himself we’ve just learned that Sigourney Weaver (‘Aliens’,’Avatar’) will be making a cameo in the ‘Ghostbusters‘ reboot! It seems like just yesterday that he told the media to take note as the leaks were ruining any surprises he had in store for movie goers.
So, I guess if there is going to be a leak, Feig would rather do it himself nowadays.
From a film that went to trying to distance itself from the first two films there has been an increase in embracing the original cast members. While I am interested in seeing what they are going to put together, I know that the majority agree that it would have been fun to see an aged version of the surviving Ghostbusters. While some of the jokes may have ended up being in the same style of ‘Ash vs Evil Dead‘ with an elderly Ash trying to save the world, the ‘Ghostbusters’ is one of the few franchises that could get away with making a mock serious sequel that moviegoers would enjoy.
As the details came from the following tweet…
Gang, trying to keep surprises but this is about to leak, so I’ll tell you myself: the awesome Sigourney Weaver is going to be in our movie!

…means that there is no information as to exactly what kind of a role Weaver will have in the film or how long she’ll appear on screen. She’ll be joining Hudson, Bill Murray, Dan Akyroyd, Annie Potts, and all of the new cast members. The only living original cast member who hasn’t committed to the film at this time is Rick Moranis who has had no interest in returning to acting once he retired to be a full time father.
Are you looking forward to the return of the original actors as cameos in the new ‘Ghostbusters’? Is this a film that you’ll be giving a chance or are you deadset against it seeing the light of day? Share your thoughts below!
We’re going to call the ‘Ghostbusters’ onto the big screen on July 15th, 2016.
