Guillermo del Toro‘s ‘Crimson Peak’ is set to chill viewers on October 16th so promotions are kicking up for the film.

Here is the film’s synopsis:

When her heart is stolen by a seductive stranger, a young woman is swept away to a house atop a mountain of blood-red clay: a place filled with secrets that will haunt her forever. Between desire and darkness, between mystery and madness, lies the truth behind Crimson Peak. From the imagination of director Guillermo del Toro comes a supernatural mystery starring Tom Hiddleston, Jessica Chastain, Mia Wasikowska and Charlie Hunnam.

In this new clip, Sir Thomas Sharpe (Hiddleston) brings home his new bride Edith Cushing (Wasikowska) to the creepy title manor, which bristles his sister, Lady Lucille Sharpe (Chastain), the existing lady-of-the-house.  The scene is thick with tension as Edith attempts to exert some control, not realizing that her new husband and his cold sister are hiding sinister secrets within the locked doors of their abode.

Witness the atmospheric clip below:

Dr. Alan McMichael, played by Charlie Hunnam isn’t included in this clip, but this marks the first re-teaming of Hunnam and del Toro, who previously worked together on the under-performing ‘Pacific Rim,’ which marked Hunnam’s first time headlining a big-budget action flick. While ‘Pacific Rim’ didn’t break any records, it did well enough to warrant a sequel, in which Hunnam will reunite with del Toro, playing Raleigh Becket.  Rumor has it that Hunnam’s part will be diminished and that the new film, possibly entitled ‘Maelstrom’, will focus on Charlie Day’s Dr. Newton Geiszler and Burn Gorman’s Gottlieb.

It was while shooting the first ‘Pacific Rim’ that Hunnam agreed to make ‘Crimson Peak’ which ultimately cost him a must higher profile role in a higher profile film.  Hunnam had to pass on playing Christian Grey in the mommy porn adaptation ’50 Shades of Grey’.

But Hunnam has no regrets aying:

“I’d given Guillermo my word, over a year before, that I was going to do this film. People were saying, ’Are you crazy? Guillermo still has got four months to recast, it’s the fourth lead, you can go and do this [instead].  I said, ’I can’t. He’s my friend, I’ve done a film with him, I gave him my word.’”

Well, he isn’t baring as much skin in his new ‘Crimson Peak’-promotional photo shoot as he would have in ’50 Shades of Grey’ but he insists that he isn’t averse to nudity or sexuality, as he has bared quite a butt… er bit on his cult favorite series ‘Sons of Anarchy’ and got his start on the British version of the explicit ‘Queer as Folk’.

“When I was 18 I was getting f***ed in the ass, completely naked on national TV, you know?” he casually dismisses.

No ass here, but check out his bloody sexy photo shoot for ‘VMan’ magazine:

‘Crimson Peak’ is set to haunt theaters on October 16, just in time for Halloween.  But it looks pretty scary, Charlie, I may need someone to comfort me!  That’s included in my $10 ticket, right?

Are you excited to explore this ghostly mansion?
