An Inhuman new villain is coming to cause trouble for the ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ His name is Lash, and he will be played by Matthew Wallig.
In the comics, Lash is one of the advanced race of Inhumans, but after the Earth is flooded by the Terrigen Mist and hundreds are granted super powers, Lash vows to seek them out and judge whether they are worthy to possess them. If not, he uses his energy manipulating powers to kill them. He was ultimately defeated by the Queen of the Inhumans, Medusa.
Behemoth Wallig, who has appeared on ‘Dexter’ and in the comedy ‘We’re The Millers’ will play Lash on the ABC action series, although his intentions are murkier on the show. It is said this take on Lash will be more ambiguous and that the main characters won’t know his true allegiance.
Lash will apparently be a major character as his presence is teased throughout the third season, with him only appearing in the shadows at first.
Wallig, a former pro football player, is a suitable physical match for the comic book version, who is a hefty mountain of muscle with spikes protruding from his head and body.
You can compare the comic artwork above with the silhouetted image from the show below:
Though the view isn’t very clear, his spiky dermis is visible. That combined with Wallig’s imposing form should at least give him a pretty decent resemblance to the comic character.
Here is a trailer for the upcoming third season which unfortunately doesn’t reveal much more about Lash. You can watch it below:
