The second season of ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ introduced a number of different things from the House of Ideas’ vast mythology to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Most notable of course was the Inhumans, an ancient race of people with extraordinary powers. They played an especially large role in the life of Skye (or Daisy Johnson) since her mother Jiaying was revealed to be a leader of an Inhuman tribe. But Dichen Lachman’s character wasn’t the only prominent Inhuman to affect the young S.H.I.E.L.D. agent in season two. Recurring star Luke Mitchell of ‘The Tomorrow People’ played Lincoln, Skye’s trusted confidant during her time in Afterlife. And now it looks like he’ll continue to electrify True Believers in Season Three.

According to Marvel.com, Mitchell has been promoted to a series regular for the third season of ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ on ABC. Just like Adrianne Palicki’s upping last season, that likely means that we’ll be seeing more of the compassionate Inhuman with the ability to generate and wield electricity. Executive Producer/Head of Marvel Television Jeph Loeb confirms this sentiment when speaking of the young Australian actor:

“Luke proved a valuable addition to our cast in Season 2, and after seeing him light up the screen with his charisma we knew we had to have him back for more. Our writers have come up with big plans for the character of Lincoln in our next season, and we can’t wait for fans to see everything we have in store.”

With Grant Ward on the warpath, Director Coulson could probably use all the help that he could get. Plus, with Skye’s powers still developing, it would definitely help to have someone guide her on that journey of self-discovery since her parents are no longer in the picture once again. No matter what Lincoln gets into next season, it’ll be interesting to see what’s in store for Luke Mitchell in the MCU from this point forward.

What do you think about Luke Mitchell being promoted to a series regular for the third season of ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’? Are you excited to see more of Lincoln?
