When Marvel’s ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.‘ returns this Fall there is going to be a lot of Inhuman activity going on and at least one of the enemies will be the villain Lash. When the official synopsis was just released they made a quick mention that Matt Willig (‘We’re The Millers’,”) will play the character and simply described him as “a monstrous Inhuman whose loyalties remain ambiguous.” While they may have him start off as ambiguous in the series and potentially even helping S.H.I.E.L.D., anyone who has read the comics will know that he only has his own interests in mind.

While this will be Willig’s first live acting experience with Marvel Studios, he has worked with characters from Marvel’s universe before. To be specific he did the voice of Juggernaut in 2010’s ‘Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions’ game.

The character of Lash was introduced in ‘Inhumans’ #1 last year as someone who can both absorb and convert energy. He is from one of the few branches who don’t follow the Royal Family which we haven’t heard a hint of so far on the series. He seems to follow the belief system that we’ve seen from our introduction to the species where only the most worthy are allowed access to their powers and if he stays true to character, might be popping up just to see if Skye is worthy and eliminate her if not.

Lash mainly showed up in the comics when the Terrigen mists covered the planet and started spawning new Inhumans so I’m sure with how the second season ended that a similar theme will play out.

When the show returns Lash will be the fourth Inhuman which we know of in Season 3 so far. Obviously Skye is returning as is the Inhuman Lincoln Campbell. We’ll also be introduced to newcomer Pablo Raba who will be playing Joey. While we’re familiar with Skye and Lincoln, Joey “is struggling to harness his new found abilities” and it’ll be interesting to see how Skye, who barely has control over hers, and Lincoln are able to help him adapt. Our introduction to him could be another reason why Lash ends up on screen.
