Welcome back to an all new edition of Toy News Tuesday! We’re the one weekly column right here on ScienceFiction.com where we seek out all of the awesome news you need to know about any announcements and cool happenings in the toy industry and put them all in one easy to find place for you! Summer is coming to a close, so now we’ve got all of the new Fall toy releases to look forward to! September and October are usually pretty front heavy with new toys hitting the market as parents begin to prepare for the holiday season in December! There’s lots of cool stuff on the horizon, so without further delay lets jump headfirst into the Toy News for the week of August 25th, 2015!
The Twelfth Doctor Arrives
Underground Toys has announced the upcoming release of an all new 5″ scale Twelfth Doctor figure in his blue coat and white shirt! This is the first time this version of The Doctor has been available in 5″ scale in his standard outfit, with the only previous Twelfth Doctor released in this scale being an alternate head for an Eleventh Doctor figure. To the relief of many fans, this figure is perfectly in scale with most previously released 5″ scale ‘Doctor Who’ figures! This new Twelfth Doctor figure is set to hit shelves by years end!

In 1984, Kenner began to release the next of their extremely popular action figure lines, the DC Super Powers Collection! This line included heroes such as Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman and many more.

This Lex Luthor jumbo figure was developed using state of the art 3D technology. Gentle Giant has taken the original DC Super Powers Lex Luthor and created a highly accurate digital model with the use of 3D scanners. This digital model was then scaled to 12 inches tall, and then printed using top of the line 3D Systems printers. Time For Some Good ‘Ol Family Fun
Okay, that headline is probably a bit much, but really, how cool does this new ‘Ultimate Leatherface’ figure from NECA look?! This new 7″ scale Leatherface figure from NECA is based on his appearance in the original ‘Texas Chainsaw Massacre’ film, and is set to hit shelves in just a few weeks! Ultimate Leatherface will feature over 25 Points Of Articulation, a bevy of scene specific film accurate accessories, and even an alternate head! NECA looks to have hit the nail on the head by calling the figure ‘Ultimate Leatherface’, because it looks like it destroys every previously released figure of the character, and it’s going to be damn near impossible for anyone to release a more perfect version. Hungry For More?
While we aren’t sure exactly why it took us this long to get a 1:1 scale figure of a Crite from the classic super campy 80’s horror franchise ‘Critters’, we certainly are glad to see that the team at Amok Time Toys put in a lot of effort to create a collectible that is obviously a labor of love! The only thing that could possible make these things better would be a movable jaw, but even without it these things look perfect! It’s like they’re rolling straight off the screen and into your collection! These awesome little Critters are available now for just $19.99!
