Dust off those trenchcoats fellow Hellblazers! It’s news that ‘Constantine’ fans have been hoping for since the series was cancelled. Yes, Constantine lives and will continue his work against the dark forces on this season’s ‘Arrow’!

The news comes straight from the CW’s presentation today at the Television Critics Association Press Tour. So far, all we know right now is that Matt Ryan will reprise his role as Constantine on the 5th episode which is titled ‘Haunted.’ According to CW President Mark Pedowitz, “It’s a great one-shot episode.”

Here’s the episode’s official log line:

John Constantine is a weather worn exorcist and expert on the supernatural and the occult.  He is a detective, magician, and a hunter of demons, and will provide critical support to Oliver (Stephen Amell) when arrows aren’t enough.

According to Executive Producer Marc Guggenheim:

“We are thrilled to have Matt Ryan reprise the role of John Constantine on an upcoming episode of Arrow. Matt is an incredibly talented actor and his portrayal of this beloved character was always something we admired. The introduction of magic and mysticism on the show this season has provided a truly organic opportunity for us to bring John Constantine to Arrow and the CW’s DC universe. It will be a well-deserved tip of the hat to all the Constantine fans who were so incredibly supportive of that series.”

With the Lazarus Pit being introduced to ‘Arrow’ last season, having Constantine appear on the series makes for a natural crossover as the character is an expert on the subject. The pit will be serving very prominently not only on ‘Arrow’ but on ‘Legends of Tomorrow’ as both Sarah Lance and Thea Queen have taken a dip in the waters. We know that Sarah transformed from the Black Canary to the White Canary and at this time, we don’t know the effects on Thea (who is said to become the Red Arrow). Could Constantine be the one to have all the answers?
